چکیده

Unfortunately, in the PDF of the original version of this article [1] there was an error. The names of two of the co-first authors were included incorrectly in the footnote and read “Xiu-yang Huang” and “Juhong Yang “instead of “Xiu-yan Huang” and “Ju-hong Yang”. The sentence should have read “Xiu-yan Huang, Zi-li Huang, and Juhong Yang are co-first authors”. The names have been also updated in the original article.

Pancreatic cancer cell-derived IGFBP-3 contributes to muscle wasting.

BACKGROUND Progressive loss of skeletal muscle, termed muscle wasting, is a hallmark of cancer cachexia and contributes to weakness, reduced quality of life, as well as poor response to therapy. Previous studies have indicated that systemic host inflammatory response regarding tumor development results in muscle wasting. However, how tumor directly regulates muscle wasting via tumor-derived sec...

The Role of microRNA in Cancer Cachexia and Muscle Wasting: A Review Article

Almost half of cancer patients experience cachexia syndrome. Cachexic patients are at risk of increased side effects of chemotherapy, reduced tolerance to chemotherapy drugs, longer duration of treatment period, and decreased quality of life. Cancer cachexia is a multifactorial syndrome. Micro ribonucleic acid (miRNA), a “non-coding RNA”, is considered to be a risk factor of cachexia and muscle...

Silencing IGFBP-2 decreases pancreatic cancer metastasis and enhances chemotherapeutic sensitivity

Pancreatic cancer has remained one of the most devastating and lethal malignancies characterized by local invasion, distant metastasis and a high degree of chemoresistance. Insulin-like growth factor binding protein 2 (IGFBP-2) is a member of the IGFBP family of proteins, and it is highly expressed in pancreatic cancer patients' serum and tumor tissues. IGFBP-2 also mediates tumor cell growth, ...

Suppression of Tumor Growth and Muscle Wasting in a Transgenic Mouse Model of Pancreatic Cancer by the Novel Histone Deacetylase Inhibitor AR-4212

PURPOSE Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) is the third leading cause of cancer death in the United States. This study was aimed at evaluating the efficacy of AR-42 (formerly OSU-HDAC42), a novel histone deacetylase (HDAC) inhibitor currently in clinical trials, in suppressing tumor growth and/or cancer-induced muscle wasting in murine models of PDAC. EXPERIMENTAL DESIGN The in vitro ant...

Therapeutic potential of targeting protein for Xklp2 silencing for pancreatic cancer.

The targeting protein for Xklp2 (TPX2) is a microtubule- and, cell cycle-associated protein who's overexpression has been reported in various malignancies. In this study, we verified the overexpression of TPX2 in both surgically resected specimens of pancreatic cancer and multiple pancreatic cancer cell lines. Subsequently, we found that TPX2 siRNA effectively suppressed the proliferation of pa...
